Meet Our Providers

Learn more about us and our providers.

Pulse MD began as a dream realized by Clarissa Abrantes, MD and Anis Shahmiri, MD. They both felt the area’s available healthcare was lacking in patient-centric primary care. They wanted to create a practice where the patient was the center of attention, and each person was treated as a unique individual and not just a number, a symptom, or an interesting case. Joining forces in 2017, Drs. Abrantes and Shahmiri created a practice that has remained steadfast in the dedication to putting the patient first.

Clarissa Abrantes, MD

Originally from Manila, Dr. Abrantes completed medical school at the University of Santo Tomas, completed her residency in internal medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI in 2007, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She relocated to Florida in 2007, and has been in practice in The Villages since then.

With her drive for wellness in her patients, Dr. Abrantes believes there is more to medicine than just tests and pills. She treats the whole patient, and raises the standard for others in practice by providing whole-body care, from counseling on nutrition, exercise regimes, lifestyle change, and making good choices. Her passion for her patients is matched only by her continual thirst for lifetime learning. She believes you are never too old to learn new things, and helps her patients to develop their own thirst for
a healthier lifestyle.

When she’s not working, Dr. Abrantes loves to read, explore, and play piano. She and her husband enjoy traveling with their two boys.

Youssef Aouni, APRN, FNP-C

Youssef brings over 8 years of medical experience to the practice, having served as a Critical care nurse at high volume trauma centers and ICU at several prominent hospitals in Florida. He obtained his degree from Chamberlain University and is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

Armed with his passion to further serve the community, Youssef joined Pulse MD in 2021. With his calm demeanor and reassuring spirit, Youssef brings out the best in his patients by encouraging them to be the best version of themselves. He doesn’t believe in illness as a lifestyle, but rather treats illness as something to overcome on the way to wellness! It starts within each patient, and he is simply the steward to help bring it out. It is much easier to treat the whole patient when they are as invested in their health as he is.

Youssef enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with his wife of 20 years and their eight children. His favorite pastime is planning journeys for the entire family!

Our Foundation

Pulse Medical Doctors is the brainchild of two accomplished providers who share the same ideal. Dr. Clarissa Abrantes and Dr. Anis Shahmiri were brought together by the same strong commitment to their patient’s wellbeing.

Pulse Medical Doctors officially opened their doors in August 2017 in Lady Lake Florida and immediately drew a large following through word of mouth. Patients who have been following the two doctors from practice to practice were delighted to know that their trusted providers have finally settled into their own “home”. As word about the doctors continue to spread, the practice garnered a steady flow of “new family members/patients” to the practice. Everything was in its right place and things are moving perfectly as it should.

Sadly, our Pulse MD family suffered a terrible loss when one of our founders, Dr. Shahmiri, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2019. Dr. Shahmiri left behind an unforgettable legacy that made a huge impact not only on his patients but on the whole community that he so lovingly served.

Dr. Anis Shahmiri

Dr. Anis Shahmiri was born in the Valley of Kashmir nestled within the Himalayas in northern India. When the time came to enhance his career, he could not think of a better place than the United States. He completed his residency at the Nassau County Medical Center in Long Island, New York between 1995 and 1998. However, his quest for warmer weather eventually brought him and his family to Florida where he started practicing internal medicine in 1998.

Patients were immediately drawn to his caring demeanor and the wealth of medical knowledge he offers. It didn’t take long for Dr. Shahmiri to build a big following in the community. He dedicated his time caring for his patients and addressing their concern even outside the four corners of the office.
